Gift Idea of the Week: Extra Brainpower

devotional.JPGI know and you know that books make excellent gifts. Why? Because they’re constructive, they’re reasonably priced, and reading is a unique pleasure that can’t be replicated elsewhere. I know already this month I’ve seen many more folks at River City Books having their books wrapped — a sure sign that they are either giving books as gifts or they have found a peculiar way of surprising themselves.

In my ongoing effort to provide quality gift ideas, this week I have found a book that could suit any number of people on your list — The Intellectual Devotional: Revive Your Mind, Complete Your Education, and Roam Confidently with the Cultured Class by David Kidder and Noah Oppenheim.

The book consists of daily doses of wisdom drawn from seven fields of knowledge: history, literature, philosophy, mathematics and science, religion, fine arts and music. “It’s a wonderful gift book for people of all ages, anywhere from 15 to 95,” said Nicole Magistro, who owns the Bookworm with Neda Jansen, as reported at this online source for book news. “It’s perfect for those people for whom you just don’t know what to get.”
