Raining Books, Too
It’s a pretty cool time to be a reader. There are so many great books out there and, well, what else are we going to do in this weather — surf?
Two books in particular seem to be making news nearly everywhere I fly — Come on People: On the Path from Victims to Victors and Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House. Of course, you can check them out down at the neighborhood bookstore. Or you order online by clicking on the respective book covers.
Here are short summaries:
“Come on People”: Bill Cosby and Alvin F. Poussaint have a powerful message for families and communities as they lay out their visions for strengthening America, or for that matter the world. They address the crises of people who are stuck because of feelings of low self-esteem, abandonment, anger, fearfulness, sadness, and feelings of being used, undefended and unprotected. These feelings often impede their ability to move forward. The authors aim to help empower people make the daunting transition from victims to victors.
“Fair Game”: The object of the CIA leak case that resulted in the conviction of the vice-presidents chief of staff, Valerie Plame Wilson tells not only the real story behind the leak, but describes her life at the CIA and what happened when her cover was blown.
