I think sometimes when I mention all of the bargain books available in River City Books’ special holiday bargains area (next door, in the former Bagel Bros. space) that folks think we’re talking about books that no one wants. Clearly, this is an error on par with saying people don’t want televised weather.
As the crowds have noticed in recent days, there are a number of bestseller-type books over there that would make great gifts (for someone else or as a treat for yourself). For example, look at the two books I saw sitting side-by-side: two megahit $26 hardcovers on sale for nine bucks each!
In its starred review of Oracle Bones, Publishers Weekly said the book “entertains and mesmerizes.” And Mike Perry … do I really have to sing his praises yet again? If you (or a reader in your life) enjoyed Population: 485 (and who didn’t?), you simply have to pick up Truck: A Love Story.
