Don’t Forget Your ‘Friends’

friends.jpgI think most regulars at River City Books know that they offer great bargain books every day of the week. Typically, there are at least two large tables full inside the front door, so you don’t even have to hunt for a good deal. The other day I also zipped downstairs — yes, there are more books in the basement! — and was surprised to stumble upon Absolute Friends by John Le Carré.

Publishers Weekly says of “Absolute Friends” that it is “a book that offers a bitter warning even as it delivers immense reading pleasure.”

The price is also friendly — just $5.98 in hardcover. Pick one up while supplies last.

For those unfamiliar with this acclaimed work, here’s a quickie review:

A bestseller hailed as a masterpiece toward which John Le Carré has been building since the fall of communism. This epic tale of loyalty and betrayal spans the lives of two friends from the riot-torn West Berlin of the 1960s to the grimy looking-glass of Cold War Europe to the present day of terrorism and new alliances. “Absolute Friends” is the thrilling work of international espionage that fans have long awaited — a brilliant, ferocious, heartbreaking work for the ages.
