New and Improved

far-away2.jpgFor the first year or so that River City Books was in business customers regularly asked, “Why don’t you find a bird that can write entertaining blurbs that help you sell books”? OK, maybe that’s not the precise question that was on people’s minds. The actual query was a bit different; it went something like this, “Do you sell greeting cards?” Eventually, RCB listened to these subtle pleas and went ahead and started stocking some cards.

Smart move, if you ask me. Because people often want to give books as gifts — is there a better gift than the gift of knowledge? — and, as Mrs. Raven reminds me all of the time, you can’t give a gift without a card.

Well, I’m happy to report that my latest foray into our favorite neighborhood bookstore has unearthed some important developments on the greeting card front. River City just started carrying a fresh batch of cards and I think you’re going to like them.

close-up2.jpgThe cards are colorful, artistic, classy and fun. There are cards for specific occasions, such as birthdays, weddings and the arrival of a newborn. Plus there are plenty of blank-inside cards for those who write poignant notes that Hallmark would be envious of. Included are cards from Artgroup and Pomegranate.

Next time you have a chance, take a look at RCB’s selection. As you can see from the photos, the cards are conveniently located near the front register.
