Customers No Longer Denied ‘Denial’

The book on everyone’s lips — no, not this one — caused a stir this weekend and led to confusion among booksellers across the country.

woodward.jpgAs the good folks at River City Books have explained to me, legally, books cannot be sold before a certain specified date. Originally, Bob Woodward’s latest volume on the Bush administration had a release date of Oct. 3. In other words, tomorrow. But that all changed Friday, when “60 Minutes” published excerpts of an interview with the author and the New York Times and New York Daily News had stories about the book’s contents. Simon & Schuster, publisher of the book, bowed to the inevitable pressure and moved up the official pub date of State of Denial: Bush at War, Part III to Saturday.

So, if you’re waiting to buy the book, you no longer have to do so. By the way, as of this morning, RCB had a few copies with another batch well on its way.
