Many Walked In This Winter Night

joseph.JPGIf you didn’t squeeze into River City Books for Winter Walk last night, I think you were about the only one. Young and old, folks shopping for the holidays, and those who just needed a good read for these cool winter evenings. They were all there. Heck, even a man from the ancient past, Joseph (pictured), found his way into the store. (I hear he’s a big fan of RCB’s religion section.) Point is, the joint was hopping.

somers.JPGMany customers took advantage of a 25-percent off children’s book coupon that was only good the night of the event. A good number of others met with Bill Cupp, World War II hero, and purchased his book “A Wartime Journey: Bail-Out over Belgium, World War II.” Also signing books were Melanie Clifford, author of “The Earth Waited: A Christmas Treasury,” and artist Fred Somers (pictured with readers), contributor to “Pure Color: The Best of Pastel.”

Winter Walk is one of the best days of the year to visit River City and store manager Jon Lee asked me to thank those of you who made it such a special night. With all of the activity throughout Division Street last night, I hope it was an all-around smash for everyone involved.
