Sale Soon Expanding

frank.jpgI was at River City Books on Thursday night — where else would I go to find a good book for a cool evening? — and heard some great news. The sale they have going on is about to expand.

As many well know, judging by the ever-diminishing supply of calendars in the store’s display, RCB has marked each of its calendars at 50-percent off. Starting Saturday, Jan. 6, not only are calendars still on sale, bargain books are joining the party, as they’ll be 30 percent off the already-low price as well!

Hard to believe, but you can get a hardcover that retailed at something like $25.95 that is now priced at $6.98 plus you can take another 30 percent off.

For example, The Americanization of Ben Franklin by Gordon S. Wood is one title I spotted on the bargain tables last night that I have my eye on. I recently read Wood’s Revolutionary Characters and loved it. Wood’s ability to write with nuanced detail and yet remain accessible is impressive. The Franklin book has been called a landmark work filled with profound insights. The pairing of subject and author undoubtedly makes for a fascinating read.

Hey, that’s just one option. There are mysteries, novels, biographies, you name it. But there is a time limit as to how long the deals will remain this good. The bargain book remainder sale will last Jan. 6-13 — so only one week to take advantage.
