No ‘Trouble’ With This Selection

collins.jpgIf you’re going to start a poetry book club that appeals to the masses I cannot think of a better poet to hit leadoff than Billy Collins. Witty, insightful, accessible and true, Collins is perhaps the most popular poet scribbling today and certainly he’s the funniest mainstream poet I’ve read.

The fledgling River City Books poetry book club will meet next week — at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 29 in the store’s downstairs meeting area to be more precise about the matter — to discuss Collins’ The Trouble with Poetry, recently released in paperback. This is the first book the club has tackled and there’s still plenty of time to read this slim but potent volume.

The club is free and open to the public and participants receive 20 percent off selected titles.

Just show up or, if you prefer, give the store a call (507-646-7754). Future suggestions always welcome.
