Midwest Booksellers’ Choices Announced

sec_photo-award.gifAs my loyal readers (all eight of them) know, I always try to stay on top of the hardware being handed to authors. The Midwest Booksellers’ Choice Awards, which honor authors from or books set in the region and are voted on by members of the Midwest Booksellers Association, are as important as they come — at least in these parts.

So, without further bumbling by me, here are the just-announced winners and honor books of 2007, complete with links to learn more and/or order each book:

Fiction Winner — Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

Fiction Honor Book — Copper River by William Kent Krueger

Nonfiction Winner — Truck: A Love Story by Michael Perry

Nonfiction Honor Book — The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid: A
Memoir by Bill Bryson

Poetry Winner — The Blizzard Voices: Poems by Ted Kooser

Children’s Picture Book Winner — A Good Day by Kevin Henkes

Children’s Literature Winner — Dairy Queen by Catherine Gilbert Murdock
