Barkeep, Pour Me A Book

little-mistakes.jpgI just love when River City Books and The Contented Cow team up on events because there’s always a festive atmosphere, thirst-quenching beverages, and literary enlightenment rolled into one fun evening. It is, you could say (and I will), two for the price of none.

I am happy to say the next Cow-RCB jointly sponsored event is coming up when author Heather McElhatton will read from and sign copies of her book Pretty Little Mistakes: A Do-Over Novel at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, at The Cow.

There are hundreds of lives sown inside “Pretty Little Mistakes,” McElhatton’s unique novel that has more than 150 possible endings. You may end up in an opulent mansion or homeless down by the river; happily married with your own corporation or alone and pecked to death by ducks in London; a Zen master in Japan or morbidly obese in a trailer park. Is it destiny or decision that controls our fate? You may not be able to change your past and start over from scratch in real life — but in “Pretty Little Mistakes,” you can.

McElhatton is an independent producer for Minnesota Public Radio and Public Radio International. Her commentaries and stories are heard nationwide on “This American Life,” “Marketplace,” “Weekend America,” “Sound Money,” and “The Savvy Traveler,” and she hosts the live radio show called “Stage Sessions.”

The event is free and open to the public. If you can’t make it but would like a signed copy, contact River City Books.
