Club Dishing Up A ‘Luncheon’

In case you forgot to check the schedule, I am here to remind you that the ever-interesting and frequently funny River City Books fiction book club will convene at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday) night in the store’s cool and comfortable downstairs meeting area.

The book to be served: Luncheon of the Boating Party by Susan Vreeland, a vivid exploration of one of the most beloved Renoir paintings in the world. The Boston Globe, one of many book reviews to celebrate the “Party,” has said, “Narrated by Renoir and seven of the models, the novel illuminates the gusto, hedonism, and art of the era. With a gorgeous palette of vibrant, captivating characters, [Susan] Vreeland paints their lives, loves, losses, and triumphs so vividly that the painting literally comes alive.”

The club, of course, is free and open to the public. Plus, participants receive 20 percent off on selected titles. New members welcome. Stop by or call the store: 507-222-7754.
