Northfield Reads! Rescheduled

Previously, I reported that the next Northfield Reads! event would be held September 26. That was wrong. I mean, it was right then, it’s wrong now. The event has been rescheduled and, as a result, it’s going to be even bigger and better.

Here’s the scoop: Acclaimed Minnesota authors Faith Sullivan, Sheila O’Connor, Heid Erdrich, Wang Ping and Shannon Olson will read from and discuss Riding Shotgun: Women Write About Their Mothers, at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 14. This free event, which will include a book signing, will be in Great Hall on the Carleton College campus.

In “Riding Shotgun,” an anthology, a group of America’s celebrated literary women tackle a topic close to their hearts: Mom. The highly personal, yet often universal, stories offer windows into those influential mother-daughter moments that have forever shaped the lives and perspectives of the writers, powerful women, authors, spokespeople, scholars, teachers, and, in some cases, mothers themselves.

For those new to town, Northfield Reads! is a communitywide book club sponsored by River City Books, the Carleton and St. Olaf bookstores, the Northfield Public Library and Monkey See-Money Read. The public is invited to attend.

The book is, of course, on sale at RCB for 20 percent off through the event.
